A Brief History

Whispering Pines Family Campground is proudly owned and operated by the Kiwanis Club of Owen Sound.

In 1946, 75 acres of land were originally leased by the club for tree planting (Christmas trees). This section of land was purchased in 1950, and the remaining 25 acres were purchased in 1972, completing the 100 acres that we now know as the campground. Construction of the camp began in the late 1960s-early 1970s and had 15 sites. It consisted of the office to the playground, on the inner part of the first two roads only.

Throughout the years, Whispering Pines has undergone several major upgrades and improvement projects, ensuring that visitors have access to modern amenities and facilities. The campground has grown to over 220 sites, and now features 2 heated saltwater pools, soccer and baseball fields, basketball, hockey, and pickleball. Rental trailers, sleeping cabins, and an enclosed pavilion with WIFI have also been added.

Whispering Pines has become a beloved destination for families, outdoor enthusiasts, and nature lovers for over 50 years.

A special thanks to the Kiwanis Club of Owen Sound for working tirelessly to maintain and improve the campground. Their commitment to providing a safe, enjoyable, and affordable camping experience for all visitors has earned them a loyal following and many positive reviews over the years.
